Chip appears on a teleporter on the battlefield from the game he's from.

Special Attacks

Neutral B - Red Bomb

Chip places a red bomb in front of him like Aya with her pendant. Over time, it won't explode. Anyone including Chip who makes direct contact with the bomb will cause it to explode. If it's hit by another explosive or a fire-related object, it doubles the size of the explosion. If Nicolas Cage unmasks it, he'll make it go off. If Toon Dr. Wily does an electric nightmare to it, it'll be set off either way. If you place a bomb in the air, it mainly just falls down and can bang people on the head in an explosive fashion.

Side B - Random Creatures

Chip spawns any of the enemies from the game. The enemies are a spider with a yellow body and purple legs, a large monster identified as teeth, and a fireball that looks like a razor red and yellow kite. The spider makes any opponent who walks over it or vice versa trip over. The "teeth" run after the nearest opponent nonstop until anyone else kills it or it gnashes onto the opponent with repeated biting; move back and forth to free yourself. The fireball kite is mainly basic and it bounces off walls; the corners are sharp like tacks. 2/3 enemies summoned can be killed off like an enemy out of SSE.

Up B - Force Tile

A Force Tile appears behind Chip. It can be aimed in any direction with the analog stick. Pressing A shoots Chip (he'll be shot automatically after 10 seconds). When he's shot, he's like a live cannonball. Pressing B allows Chip to move away from the tile. If an opponent is caught in the tile, you can press up+B to capture the opponent and shoot him/her away.

Down B - Thief

A thief appears in front of Chip. Anyone who walks over the tile has something stolen from him/her. If it's an item, the theif of course knicks it. If Chip crosses the thief while he has a stolen item, he's given the item. If an opponent has any stocked ammunition, the thief snatches 3 of the pack. The thief is of course also a pickpocket in coin matches, as expected for those that have experienced these guys in everyday life.

Final Smash - Claw Trapdoor

Chip gets out a remote controller. He then presses a button which activates a function that turns the stage floor into a giant trapdoor that will eat up anyone and anything that touches it. They then drop down into the pit underneath the stage. The opponents' best chance for survival is to get on any platform or make one themselves. The trapdoor stays for 20 seconds.

Character Description

Chip McCallahan, or Chip, is the main protagonist of the 1989 cult classic tile-based puzzle game Chip's Challenge. In the course of the game's storyline, the high school nerd met Melinda The Mantal Marvel in the school's science lab and he must navigate through her "clubhouse" (which is mainly a series of increasingly difficult puzzles) in order to prove himself to be a worthy member of the Bit Buster Club. The game's success led the creator, Chuck Sommerville, to make a sequel known mainly as Chip's Challenge 2. It featured new elements and levels in addition to the ones from its original predecessor. Though the game wasn't released to the public since the creator and the game's copyright holder couldn't agree on the terms due to the fact of the copyright holder wanting over 100 grand upfront.

Role in SSE

  • The inspiration for Chip getting out a green key in one of his taunts is when John.mitchell.9210256 noticed that the green key has an infinite amount of uses unlike the other differently-colored keys in the game.
