Special Moves (Super Lawl version)

B- Oil Shower

Hakan gets out two bottles of his famous cooking oil and douses himself with them. His entire body will gain an oily lustre for a period of time. The move is not offensive in nature and inflicts no damage, but is central to Hakan's fighting style: while "oiled up", his command grab attacks have a greater reach and inflict more damage. He will also be able to instantly cancel his dash attack into a normal move, as well as take less damage.

There is also an EX Special version during which Hakan is immune to projectiles, and which bestows even more time oiled up afterward.

Side B- Oil Slide

Hakan dives at the ground and slides on his belly toward the opponent to knock them over. If successful, the player can press punch one more time to continue sliding past the opponent, stand up, turn around and bodyslam them while they're on the ground. Alternatively, the player can press B to end with an Oil Shower.

There is also an EX Special version which slides about as far as the light punch version, but does slightly more damage than the heavy punch version.

Up B- Oil Dive

Hakan runs in place, then leaps through the air at the opponent while attempting to grab them. If Hakan manages to grab the opponent, they will both land on the ground and Hakan will slide them both into the edge of the screen, smashing the opponent's head against the invisible "wall" at the end of the stage.

The EX Special version does even more damage and covers even more distance. How long Hakan runs in place is also determined by how long the B button is held; however, if the B button is not released after a certain amount of time, Hakan will leap forward anyway.

Down B- Oil Rocket

It simply involves Hakan grabbing the opponent in a bearhug and squeezing so hard that they fly out of his arms like a slippery bar of soap.

There is also an EX Special version which does even more damage and sends them no distance at all (they go straight up and land exactly in front of Hakan). Being oiled up from Hakan's Oil Shower allows this attack to grab from greater distances and inflict more damage.

Final Smash 1- Flying Oil Spin

Hakan says "Time to get serious!", then immediately launch an Oil Dive attack which, if it grabs the opponent, has Hakan and the opponent bouncing back and forth between the edges of the screen seven times. The attack cannot be blocked, although it will whiff against crouching characters. He's also immune to projectiles, throws and attacks.

Final Smash 2- Oil Coaster

Hakan attempts to grab the opponent ("Take this!"). If successful, Hakan uses an Oil Rocket attack and when the opponent falls back down, Hakan catches them and spins them sliding around his waist like a hula hoop, with increasingly speed. As they reach top speed, he then scoops them up with the back of his hand and allows them to continue to slide along his arm, across his shoulders, shooting along the other arm and firing face-first (like a missile) into the stage wall.

Character Description

Hakan is the president of one of the world's leading edible oil manufacturers and a leader in Turkey's national sport of Yağlı güreş. He enters the S.I.N. tournament to showcase his skills, while also travelling the world in search of inspiration for a new oil recipe (after beating up and interrogating a trespassing thug whom he accuses of being an industrial spy). During the tournament, Hakan encounters E. Honda, who is revealed to be an old friend. Their meeting gets competitive when each claims that theirs is the best fighting style in the world, and a match ensues. Honda loses and acknowledges that it was a good fight, but warns Hakan not to expect him to lose next time as he leaves. Hakan then muses that Japan has a number of different oils, and tells his family that they are heading to Japan to expand their business.

Trivia

  • Hakan is the first character who's seperated in two series (Super Lawl and Kombat)
  • The appearance of Hakan's hair is a pun, as he is Turkish (the Japanese word for Turkey is "Toruko"), his hair resembles stone (the Japanese word for stone is "Ishi"), and his hair color is turquoise (the Japanese word for turquoise is "Toruko Ishi" and, worldwide, the color turquoise is associated with Turkish people).
  • Hakan is one of the few people in the Street Fighter series to state E. Honda's first name. In his rival cutscene, he calls him "his old friend, Mr. Honda", as well as "Edmond".
  • Hakan is one of the eleven playable Street Fighter characters who are married or in a romantic relationship.
  • As mentioned above, early ideas for Hakan may have started with the concept of a Karate Clown.
  • Oil wrestling is the regional sport of Turkish Thrace (Eastern Thrace). Greek occupation of Eastern Thrace (started with Tekirdağ) ended on November 13th, 1922. Hakan's birthday is November 13th.
  • Hakan is noticeably similar in appearance and moves to Street Fighter EX's Darun Mister.
  • In Super Street Fighter IV, if you use Oil Shower, and then use his Focus Attack, you can actually slide forward and back while charging. While in Lawl, you can use Oil Shower, then slide forward and cancels into Flying Oil Spin.
