Moveset[]

Neutral B: Rolling Crystal Flash[]

Vega rolls into a ball and launches himself forward in a series of forward tumbles (2% per hit), with his claw extended out towards the opponent, ending with a crouching punch using his claw hand (12%).

The EX Special version added invulnerability to fireballs, in addition to increased chip damage(19%).

Side B: Sky High Claw[]

Vega will leap towards the edge of the screen and kick-jump off of it, gliding horizontally towards his opponent with his claw outstretched (11%).

The EX Special version hits twice (15%) and goes through projectiles.

Up B: Flying Barcelona Attack[]

Vega will leap towards the edge of the screen and kick-jump off of it high into the air and towards his opponent. Which side of the screen Vega jumps to is also determined by the direction pressed for "up": diagonal up-right will take him to the righthand wall, while diagonal up-left will take him to the lefthand wall. Up alone will merely take him to the wall furthest from the opponent. If no further input is entered, Vega lands harmlessly; however, if the b button is pressed, Vega will perform one of the two attacks depicted below.

If b is pressed alone or at any sort of distance from the opponent, Vega executes the Flying Barcelona Attack, in which he will angle himself upside-down and slash viciously at his opponent (10%).

Up B: Izuna Drop[]

On the other hand, if b and a direction (left or right) is pressed, Vega proceeds to perform the Izuna Drop, where he will grab his opponent around the waist and slam them head-first into the ground (15%). The Izuna Drop can even be performed on an airborne opponent. Being a command grab, this move is unblockable.

Up B (Classic Mode only): Cage Climb[]

Vega will leap back and push himself off the side of the screen towards his opponent. He will always leap to whichever side of the screen he is closest to, unless (UF) or (UB) is used at the end of the motion. After Vega has pushed off the wall, hold Left or Right to slightly move him in the air. The following attacks can be used after the Cage Climb.

Down B: Remove Claw/Mask[]

Vega will remove his claw and throw it to the ground which increases the attack but decreases the defense. The EX Special version is different; instead of throwing his claw away, Vega throws away his mask. Unlike most EX Specials, throwing the mask away requires two sections of the Final Smash instead of just one.

The claw and mask always gravitate towards the center of the stage.

Final Smash 1: Rolling Izuna Drop[]

Vega will leap into the air and bounce off of the wall, moving towards the opponent. If the player executes an Izuna Drop properly, Vega will lift the opponent off the floor and proceed to slam the opponent on the ground several times (63%).

Final Smash 1 (Classic Mode only): Super Cage Climb[]

A more powerful version of the Cage Climb, Vega will leap forward and push himself off the side of the screen towards his opponent. Vega will always leap towards the opposite side of the screen, unless (UB) is used at the end of the motion instead of (UF). After Vega has pushed off the wall, hold Left or Right to slightly move him in the air.

Final Smash 2: Bloody High Claw[]

Vega leaping onto a wall ("Soak in your own blood!"), then performing multiple Sky High Claws on his opponent in quick succession, rising higher up the screen every time, and laughing as his opponent falls (48%). The first Sky High Claw must land for the attack to work.

Character Description[]

Vega's character archetype is very familiar in Japanese manga and anime: the Narcissist (ナルシスト, Narushisuto), often depicted as a long-haired, effeminate self-lover. He is arrogant and convinced of his own abilities and invulnerability, almost to the point of megalomania; though this is perhaps justified, as he is shown to be a highly skilled fighter. He can be incredibly sadistic - sometimes nearly to the point of being a psychopathic, bloodthirsty monster - and takes great pleasure in seeing the ugly murdered through his own doing. Vega's unbridled and solipsistic ego is shown even in his taste in interior decor, as his mansion is decorated with portraits, all of him. Despite his vain personality, Vega's mannerisms will at times show to be elegant and gentlemanly, likely because of his noble background. Additionally, he is also attracted to and impressed by the beauty and strength of young women, notably Chun-Li and Cammy.

He also harbors a tragic side. The family trauma he experienced molded his fragile mind to percieve physical unattractivness as not only replusive, but also as a threat. With his beloved mother murdered at the hands of an ugly man, ugliness came to represent evil and cowardice, while beauty represented heroism and strength.
